The Freewrite was born from the Hemingwrite project that was Kickstarted on Dec 10, 2014. Freewrite entered mass production in early 2016 and has since shipped to thousands of customers around the world.

Freewrite features a 6″ E Ink screen, Cherry MX Brown mechanical keyboard, custom embedded linux computer, and flip out handle, all in a die cast aluminum housing. It’s marketed as a distraction-free writing tool because there are no apps, notifications, or anything else to tempt the writer out of their flow. It has a very simple interface to help the user focus on one thing, their writing.

Getting Freewrite into existence was a massive team effort by my company, Astrohaus, and our various partners. The product has become a bit of cult hit and many find it critical to their writing workflow.
