A friend of mine knew gave me this piece of rough sawed wood she picked up on the beach in Coasta Rica.  It had incredible grain and she thought that I could make something out it.  With just one small piece, I came up with turning it into a foot stool for playing guitar.  The piece of wood is only about 6.25″ at its widest and about 10″ long.

I created an aluminum spider structure to hold turned steel legs.  Each leg was press fit into the aluminum.  The legs had an added detail of plastic feet to protect the floor.  As an added touch, I created a mark of my initials and laser engraved it into the bottom of the piece of wood.

The finish was a simple wipe-on gel varnish.
